CLAT
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized national-level entrance test for admissions to 25 out of the 27 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India, excluding NLU Delhi and NLU Meghalaya. Introduced in 2008, CLAT was established as a common platform for admission to prestigious National Law Schools/Universities across the country. It is conducted annually and is one of the most competitive entrance exams in India.
CLAT is taken after the Higher Secondary Examination (12th grade) for admission to integrated undergraduate law degrees such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc LLB, and BSW LLB. It is also held for postgraduate admissions to Master of Laws (LL.M) programs after completing an undergraduate law degree.
Due to the increasing number of applicants and the limited seats across top NLUs, CLAT is regarded as one of the top 10 toughest entrance examinations in India, with an acceptance rate as low as 3 percent.
The exam tests candidates on English, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, and Quantitative Techniques. Success in CLAT opens doors to some of the most respected law schools in India, setting a strong foundation for a legal career.
